Here at Haitian Connection, we believe that these stipends make a difference and provide the recipients with a sense of agency.
Ten women receive a monthly cash stipend from Haitian Connection. How they use that money is completely up to them, but they are not wasting it. They use it to purchase food supplements, pay for their children’s schooling, save some funds for a future building project, and cover medical expenses. The needs are many, and the women are counting on it and planning for it in their budgets. They are careful planners.
Some of the women have started a small business with those funds.
Prices for all goods have skyrocketed. The women were able to save in the past, but the economic conditions currently do not allow that. For their physical and mental wellbeing, Haitian Connecction provided extra foods to help stretch their meager resources.
Haitian Connection
